About This Spot

Stepping into Beso by Patria on King St W feels like entering an intimate corner of Spain tucked right into Toronto’s vibrant West End. The space balances a quiet sophistication with a warmly inviting embrace—dimmed lights cast gentle shadows as lively chatter rises softly around the room. It’s the kind of place where time seems to slow just enough to savor the moment without feeling rushed, perfect for lingering conversations over small plates and shared stories.

The movement here is unhurried but lively, with a thoughtful rhythm that allows each dish and drink to take its place in the unfolding evening. The kitchen’s care is evident in every course—from the subtle burst of smoky pimientos de padrón to the tender Spanish octopus that arrives like a small celebration on the plate. The aroma from the paella, a signature offer, begins mingling with the spirited hum of the room well before it reaches the table, asking for patience and intention from those eager to dive in.

Beyond just flavors, this is a place shaped by human moments: attentive hands serving up favorites with warmth, eyes meeting across the table as plates come and go, and the occasional bursts of laughter that feel both natural and contagious. The bar extends this experience with carefully curated wines and cocktails that invite discovery, even if some evenings the smallest sips remind you to savor slowly rather than expect drama.

For locals and visitors alike, Beso by Patria is less about a grand spotlight moment and more about the quiet joy found in connection—between food, place, and people. Here, shared bites like bacon-wrapped dates or crispy croquetas become the punctuation in stories told over late-night conversations, woven into the lively fabric of a neighborhood that loves to gather and celebrate life’s simple pleasures.

Delicious and what a fun ambiance! I haven’t been back since the renovations, and the space and food is lovely. Tip—ask for the paella right away if you’d like to try it (my favourite dish by far) since it takes 45 minutes to make. The shrimp app was also one of my favourites

Pretty good food, and nice and friendly service. Interior ambiance was superb. I thought the seafood paella was really good, however, the dish is really shallow so I recommend getting a few tapas/sharing plates along with it if you are with another person. The cocktails and churros were disappointing. Cocktails were very small and uninspiring flavour wise. The churros were extremely salty.

Easy to locate the restaurant, tucked a bit away from the main street. Atmosphere was great, quiet, and had slightly dim lights. Food was brought out one by one before the main dishes came which was nice since the table would not be able to hold many dishes. To start we ordered the Jamon Croquettas and the taste was great but these came with only 2 bite sized pieces (not mentioned in the menu) which felt underwhelming when it arrived. Next up came the bacon wrapped dates and these were pretty good, flavourful, and came with 4 pieces. The seafood paella and 16oz beef rib steak came out together which was nice. The paella was flavourful but lacked a variety of seafood. It was basically mussels and shrimp and even then there weren't enough pieces of those in the dish. The steak was great. Enjoyed every bit of it and paired well Vina Elena Familia Pacheco red wine. The service was exceptional and the server came by often enough without feeling like we were being disturbed. Never needed to ask for water as they were always ready to refill.

Good overall experience at Beso by Patria. The Todos a la Mesa menu is good value, but the real standout is the octopus from the regular menu — absolutely incredible and a must-order. The shishito peppers (regular menu) were below average and under-seasoned. Wrapped dates were overly sweet, while the beet salad was refreshing. Churros are better without cinnamon sugar and pair nicely with the chocolate mousse cake.

We had such a wonderful experience here! The ribeye and grilled octopus were both absolutely delicious, and every single dish we tried was flavorful and well prepared. What really stood out, though, was the service. The staff were warm and attentive, and they treated our child with so much kindness. At one point, while walking around, our little one accidentally touched a server at another table — instead of being upset, he smiled gently and said it was no problem. Moments like this make dining out with kids feel comfortable and welcoming. Great food, great atmosphere, and truly wonderful people. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Absolutely amazing experience! The service was outstanding — super attentive and friendly. The bar makes incredible cocktails, seriously top-notch. The churros were the best I’ve ever had, the beet salad was out of this world, the croquettes were unreal, and the tomato bruschetta was pure magic. Can’t wait to come back!
